Volunteer: Volunteer Docents at Historic House MuseumsWe have been hard at work planning safe arrangements that will allow us to have a full season (5/31-10/31) of historic house tours, programming, and operations. Volunteers are key to that success and we’re keen to continue growing our volunteer team. We are accepting applications of interest for volunteer docents at our historic house museums. Our docents love what they do, so giving back feels as much like giving to yourself! Expand your knowledge of history, meet people from around the country and the world, and share your enthusiasm for the people of the Greater Brunswick Maine community. We need docents for both house museums—the Victorian time capsule Skolfield-Whittier House and the Joshua L. Chamberlain Museum, home of the Civil War hero. (Both houses have multiple stories and require climbing stairs.) Training will begin late spring, with a goal of having new docents in place at the end of May. If you are interested in being docent, please complete an online Volunteer Application. For more information, please call 207.729.6606 or visit www.pejepscothistorical.org. Volunteer: Archival Digitization VolunteerWe have been hard at work planning safe arrangements that will allow us to have a full season (5/31-10/31) of historic house tours, programming, and operations. Volunteers are key to that success and we’re keen to continue growing our volunteer team. We have a number of projects that we are working on behind the scenes in an effort to make our archives more accessible to researchers. Many of these projects involve digitizing and organizing documents. This work requires a detail-oriented mind and proficiency and willingness to work on computers. You will work under the supervision of PHC staff and no specialist or museum experience is necessary (although we always welcome it!). If you are interested in collections or archives this is an excellent opportunity for a bit of experience.
