What We Do
SEARCH (Seek Elderly Alone, Renew, Courage & Hope) Volunteers are matched with an older adult to provide social connection. The goal is for the volunteer to spend a few hours each week and provide support, companionship, and transportation for errands and/or medical appointments. A few Key Responsibilities are as follows; Share time with an older adult for 2-4+ hours per week and provide services as agreed upon when the match is made between the SEARCH client and volunteer. Notify the SEARCH Program Coordinator of any changes or concerns regarding the person’s circumstances, communication and support is always provided by the SEARCH Program Coordinator. As well, each month volunteers will send in a monthly service report. Volunteers will be trained and will understand plus adhere to the principle of the confidentiality policy of Catholic Charities of Maine. The SEARCH volunteer supports the mission of the SEARCH program to provide social connectedness and, continue to create an independent spirit in the older adult by combating isolation and loneliness many older adults face.
