Pen Bay Healthcare is a community healthcare system dedicated to caring for the sick and injured and to improving the health and quality of life of the people of mid-coast Maine. It all started with an 11-bed hospital in Rockland, Maine, in 1901.

Pen Bay Medical Center is a 99-bed, full-service community hospital overlooking beautiful Penobscot Bay in Rockport, Maine. We offer inpatient and outpatient care, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services, patient and community education, and a full-range of specialty services through the Emergency Department, Special Care Unit, Surgical Services Department, Birth Center and the Psychiatric Addiction & Recovery Center. Pen Bay provides diagnostic, treatment and support services that meet special community needs through Mid-Coast Speech & Hearing, Health Connections occupational medicine and more. With a medical staff of almost 100 physicians, Pen Bay offers a breadth of specialty and sub-specialty services. More than 95 percent of our Medical Staff members are board-certified in their practice specialty. In virtually every area of the hospital, our nurses are certified in their special area of nursing practice.
