Growing to Give (Center for a Green Future)

Growing to Give* is a nonprofit food bank program based at Scatter Good Farm, an organic farm in Brunswick, Maine. Our mission is to grow organic vegetables using climate-friendly methods, and feed local people facing food insecurity. 

Growing to Give’s mission is to grow organic vegetables using climate-friendly methods, and donate the produce to local people facing food insecurity through food banks and community pantries and kitchens. We believe the way we farm matters. We need to nourish the earth that nourishes us, so we are certified organic, amend our soil with carbon-sequestering biochar, use mostly electric farm equipment partially powered with solar power, and use biointensive and permaculture farming practices.  Since 2017, we have grown and donated over 50,000 pounds of organic vegetables for donation in the Midcoast and greater Lewiston/Auburn communities. We alIl know healthy food is expensive and we believe all people deserve the right to choose healthy food.

We are primarily a volunteer run organization and we welcome people of all ages to help out on the farm.
