Are you new to the Greater Bath area? Would you like to meet someone who knows the area well and would love to have you visit? We have many elderly people in the area that are still independent and living alone. They are isolated because they cannot drive anymore or maybe they have family members who are unable to help. Many of their friends have passed away or cannot come to see them as often. They are lonely. We match a volunteer with one elderly person. The two of you can then make plans to just visit, take a walk, go shopping or to a medical appointment, or maybe just share a simple meal. The opportunity to do something they haven't been able to do in a long time is exciting to the senior and very rewarding to our volunteers! The SEARCH Program has seniors waiting for a volunteer in many towns in the Bath area, including all of Sagadahoc County. Volunteers go through background checks and an orientation focusing on safety protocols. Extra safety protocols are in place during COVID-19 with most volunteers providing phone reassurance and doing errands for clients to minimize in-person contact.
