Have you ever wondered what it takes to keep a railway operating? Or perhaps you have lifelong interest in railroads?
Come down & join us as a volunteer!
Volunteers are a critical part of our mission to rebuild Maine history. It is the volunteers that work on our projects, that meet and greet our visitors, and that operate our trains. We have no paid staff.
Join WW&F Railway President David J. Buczkowski in a work day along the Head Tide trail.
We'll be maintaining (trimming, cutting brush, etc.) where the rails once roamed through the famous cut in the shadow of the Head Tide church.
- Volunteer shifts begin promptly at 8:30AM at 97 Cross Road, Alna, Maine
- Please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure work can begin on time
- Wear heeled, fully enclosed above the ankle boots (safety boots are preferable)
- Wear full legged pants (no shorts, etc.)
- Tools will be supplied, but feel free to bring ones that you are comfortable working with.
- Please bring your own bagged lunch to be eaten at the worksite during the lunch break.
- Work will conclude at 2PM.
- Younger volunteers are welcome under appropriate adult supervision.
